What to do following a bicycle accident

Riding a bicycle is one of the most popular hobbies for Americans. Not only is it relaxing, it is also a great way to exercise. Bicycling can help you see some of the beauty that Southern California has to offer. But, bicycling can also be quite dangerous, especially if you are riding in traffic in the city. Here's what you should do following a bicycle accident.

As with any other type of accident you should always remain on the scene, even if you are the victim and not at fault. Wait for emergency responders to arrive before you go anywhere. Get to somewhere safe so no other vehicles wind up hitting you and causing more severe injuries.

Be sure to seek medical attention after the accident. It's not a good idea to refuse treatment due to injuries that might not develop immediately. Getting a medical evaluation will help any legal case you wish to open following the accident.

You should never admit fault for the accident even if you did cause it. Admitting fault will only hurt any case you might have. Even saying something as simple as "I'm sorry" can cause you quite a bit of trouble.

Document everything at the scene of the accident. You can do this by taking pictures of the bike, the cars involved and the debris with your phone. Use these pictures in any lawsuit you consider filing as evidence.

Have you been injured in a bicycle accident in California? You never know what type of injuries can occur. Delayed onset of pain is common, which is why you should never refuse medical attention. Protect your rights following an accident and seek the compensation you deserve.
